The Tata Scholarship program at Cornell University offers annual awards and is renewed yearly. For the undergraduate program, the candidates will be awarded a scholarship, which will help the student financially throughout the program. The program waives the yearly tuition cost and is entirely funded by scholarships. However, it does not cover living and any other expenses.
It is a need-based scholarship that provides full support for four years of undergraduate study. Some degree programs last five years, which equates to ten complete academic years. In this situation, support from the scholarship program is offered for eight semesters. This grant does not provide funding for the extra semesters required for major changes or multiple degrees.
A candidate must meet the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for the Cornell University UG Tata Scholarship:
- Indian National
- Attended higher secondary school in India. (Without any gaps in years of study)
- Financial Requirement: Must be in a position to receive need-based assistance.
- English Language Proficiency: A TOEFL or IELTS score is required.
- TOEFL iBT: 100
- IELTS: 7.0
- For any undergraduate degree program, you must obtain an admission offer from Cornell University.
- Prospective applicants should be aware that students majoring in art, engineering, agriculture, applied economics and management, biological science, life science, and other science will be given special preference.
Indian students must apply for Cornell University’s Tata Scholarships online on its official website. Applicants need to complete the college scholarship service profile in order to fill out the scholarship application, which is available online. Two online application forms for the scholarship must be filled out by students as part of the procedure:

Selection Process For Cornell University Tata Scholarship
Students need to fill the details in the application form carefully because the Cornell University Tata Scholarships is awarded purely based on the details and the documents that have been submitted during the application process. Some of the aspects that will be looked into for the selection are:
- Academic qualifications
- Family income
- English Language Proficiency test Score
The shortlisted candidate list will be released on the official portal of Cornell University and hence the students after applying are suggested to have a consistent look at the portal for the results and any other important notices. Recipients of the scholarship will be funded for the duration of their Cornell undergraduate program.
The partnership between Cornell University and the Tata Trust provides the students with a wide scope to pursue a professional degree program at a globally recognized university. Each year, 20 Indian students are supported under this scholarship. However, the Cornell University Tata Scholarship amount only covers the recipient’s tuition and fees.
Since this a need-based scholarship, it is ensured that the recipients receive funding to complete their four-year undergraduate degree. For programs that require ten-semesters of full-time enrollment (for instance B.Arch), funds will only be provided till eight semesters. Scholarship applications for the upcoming session will be accepted from November 1, 2023 to January 2, 2024. The Cornell University assures to provide Tata Scholarship funding as long as Tata Scholars have financial need.
