University of British Columbia (UBC) Undergraduate Scholarships 2024/2025 – Online Application & Eligibility

University of British Columbia scholarships offer different kinds of funding opportunities to students based on their needs, year of entry, and nationality. University of British Columbia offers more than CAD 200 million annually through UBC scholarships, awards, bursaries, loans, and grants. UBC Undergraduate Scholarships 2024-2025 are of two types: Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award and International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES). The number and level of these international scholarships awarded each year vary, depending on available funding.

Outstanding overseas students enrolling in undergraduate programs at UBC are given overseas Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES). IMES are awarded to students as they begin their first year of study at UBC, and they are renewable for up to three more years of study. University of British Columbia Scholarships for International Students: Undergraduate

UBC offers over CAD 30 million in financial support annually to recognize the academic accomplishments of exceptional international undergraduate students through scholarships, awards, and other means. UBC Scholarships for International Students: Graduate and Doctoral

UBC Scholarships for International Students: External Funding

Although the University of British Columbia scholarships provides numerous funding options, it may happen that an individual does not get financial aid, depending on the number of applications. Therefore, candidates can also look out for external funding options, such as:-

Outstanding International Student Award

The Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award is a one-time, merit-based entrance scholarship awarded to qualified students when they are offered admission to UBC. Students selected for this award show strength academically and display involvement outside of the classroom.

Eligibility

To be considered for an OIS Award, you must:

  • Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school or post-secondary (university or college).
  • Be an international student studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your scholarship eligibility.)
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong extracurricular involvement.
  • Not be nominated for a need-and-merit-based International Scholars award.
  • Apply to UBC by January 15.

How to apply

If you apply to UBC by January 15, you will be automatically considered for the OIS Award.

Scholarship status

You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after you receive an offer of admission to UBC. Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.
